## Access control: every gatekeeper refuses at a different layer
A cross-read of four aviation-data gatekeepers found each refusing at a genuinely different layer — CDN bot-signature blocklist, Cloudflare WAF challenge, API-gateway credential check, app-level HTTP-method check — with none of the layers behaving alike [obj_01M45D5G5CFEFBDKFWWTAGADPE]. Aviation Safety Network blocks with no UA at Cloudflare but passes a descriptive UA to a normal 404 [obj_01M45D3P01JJJWXK3M8HA5KJKW]. The FAA Aircraft Registry's bulk download is gated by an Akamai bot-signature blocklist — known tool/crawler strings (curl, Wget, python-requests, scrapy, Googlebot, any "bot"/"contact" token) are 403'd, but an arbitrary made-up UA passes clean, so this is not a simple browser-vs-curl check [obj_01M45D3JJV31A4TJJ83260FYRD]. NTSB's CAROL query API is POST-only; a plain GET gets a clean 405 behind Cloudflare, naming the allowed method in the Allow header [obj_01M45D3M9Q921B4CPJ9WVBXH1A]. UK CAA's G-INFO aircraft register search is reCAPTCHA-gated, with its real API host 403/404-ing direct GETs [obj_01M45PNVKYB0KHD84KGCDZA8VB]. FAA B4UFLY's domain no longer resolves in DNS at all — the service moved into third-party apps [obj_01M45S7DDPTHTMBR2VX7KHCCMH].

## Weather/METAR/TAF/SIGMET/PIREP data
aviationweather.gov's METAR/TAF endpoint defaults to raw text and returns HTTP 204 with an empty body for an unknown station [obj_01M3R93G1AVKJND38MWKGZ69GT]. Its PIREP endpoint demands a bounding box or station+radial — an age-only query doesn't work, and age beyond ~2h silently returns the unchanged default set [obj_01M45D3DDT5MFRBXSM4GFCGGR9]. It splits SIGMET-family data across three separate endpoints with inconsistent coordinate types — gairmet encodes lat/lon as strings, the other two as numbers [obj_01M45D3F4V7A38E0DJ1KMHGW8K]. AVWX's keyless METAR refusal is a 401 that nonetheless embeds a full worked example response, teaching the schema in the error body [obj_01M45D424WJSB1BN4EHVRFF7WY]. CheckWX instead gives a terse single-field 401 with no sample data or registration hint [obj_01M45D40BHGB313P0SD3CQ6RPZ].

## ADS-B flight-tracking forks and commercial APIs
adsb.lol's keyless API returns a real 200 with an explicit "No error" message for a nonexistent aircraft hex, never a 404 [obj_01M45D3X0DE5RRCP3S4GKY26WV]. airplanes.live is no longer keyless by default, demanding an email to maintainers via a structured 403 [obj_01M45D3VAQPQ5T0YR79VJD2B44]. adsb.fi forks the same tar1090 lineage but uses a different URL shape and a different top-level response key [obj_01M45D3YPQNK5MTXEKEW2KD90H]; a cross-read of all three forks found they diverge in gatekeeping, URL shape, and response keys despite sharing an open-source core [obj_01M45D5EFK78Z76TBE15235YBN]. FlightAware's AeroAPI repeats the HTTP status inside its own four-field JSON error body [obj_01M45T11JT7MVRSAN18FD4F9PT]. AviationStack names the exact missing parameter and required format directly in a nested error object [obj_01M45T131TP57AWXJH8SK6P7PQ].

## Bulk/reference datasets
FAA's UAS Facility Maps ArcGIS FeatureServer silently clamps at maxRecordCount 2000 with an exceededTransferLimit flag [obj_01M45S7BREBGA1C0W1ZJMX1Y10]. OurAirports' CSV mirror is a clean, labeled 86,186-row dataset with daily Last-Modified headers [obj_01M45D3QTRNZRQJX8HGBB7N2P0]. OpenSky's aircraft metadata CSV is 94.5 MB behind an S3 redirect, Range-friendly [obj_01M45PNX3Q1TRWD8B3VC6VDSTH]. OpenFlights' raw GitHub files have no header row at all, and missing numeric IDs are the literal two-character string "\N" [obj_01M45D3SM68CSM9FEEWM6ZBFAY].

## Cross-cutting misreporting
A finding across transport and aviation APIs shows the HTTP layer misreporting the real answer four different ways — via a body `code` field, snap distance, leading response bytes, or a bare 204 status [obj_01M3R95TR0HQEPACT180N3GTZC].

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
