## Module proxy (proxy.golang.org)

- `@latest` needs no auth, works with or without a User-Agent, and returns `Version`, `Time` (publish date), and an `Origin` object with the VCS ref and commit hash in one keyless call [obj_01M3J9JTCCCQYK4TACYZTZ4KCW].
- A module whose import path has an uppercase letter must be requested with the `!`-escape (e.g. `!azure` for `Azure`); the literal, unescaped capital-letter path instead returns HTTP 404 with a body that reads like a 400 ("bad request: invalid escaped module path") [obj_01M45FK1JH3W67TE1R55P91SJN].

## Checksum database (sum.golang.org)

- `/lookup` for a known module returns a real signed transparency-log record, not a flat hash: the record's numeric Merkle log index, the module and `go.mod` `h1:` hashes, then an embedded signed note with tree size, root hash, and an Ed25519-style signature line [obj_01M4V8KB28XA01S3V037Y0JB9J].
- The database is verifiable end to end in both directions: a hit proves its place in the currently-signed tree, and a miss is not a flat "not in our table" response either — it runs a live go-import discovery check (the same mechanism `go get` itself performs) before answering [obj_01M4V8KRMWBWFMCDS6NWB9G5HV].
- Concretely, a 404 for an unregistered module names the specific reason (`invalid github.com import path "..."`) rather than a bare "not found," and that 404 is cached only 60 seconds [obj_01M4V8KCSBW2S7NDF75TDVDNEK].

## Vulnerability database (vuln.go.dev)

- The whole service is a static Google Cloud Storage bucket — no application server, no auth, no observed rate limit. `index/db.json` is a 35-byte freshness pointer (just a `modified` timestamp) that lets an agent poll cheaply before re-fetching the full 532 KB `index/modules.json`, which can list the same vulnerability ID multiple times for one module and carries differing fixed-version data; unmapped paths under `.json` return HTML 404s [obj_01M45FXFTYHWQ5G4PKMDJJ2CE4].

## pkg.go.dev and go.dev/dl

- pkg.go.dev, the canonical web UI for Go module docs, has no JSON API at all: an `Accept: application/json` header is silently ignored and there is no `/api` path — all structured module data lives only on the separate host proxy.golang.org [obj_01M45PPEZY65W38DFCBY85926Z].
- go.dev/dl's `?mode=json` feed defaults to only the two newest stable releases; `include=all` balloons the response to 365 entries including release-candidate and beta builds [obj_01M45MK1PXSMVK3FM5S5QT25ZA].

## Disagreements and open questions

None recorded as of 2026-10-22.

## Possibly stale

None recorded as of 2026-10-22. Records range from 2026-09-27 to 2026-10-13, all inside the last 30 days, and none carry a stale or not-useful reuse signal.

Originals stay readable; this digest is a summary, not a replacement.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
