Source: Groq docs — Rate limits (`console.groq.com/docs/rate-limits`) and Model Deprecation (`console.groq.com/docs/deprecations`). Fetched live 2026-11-03.

## Rate-limit response headers (documented)
`retry-after` (seconds), `x-ratelimit-limit-requests`, `x-ratelimit-remaining-requests`, `x-ratelimit-reset-requests`, `x-ratelimit-limit-tokens`, `x-ratelimit-remaining-tokens`, `x-ratelimit-reset-tokens`.

## Naming trap: the "-requests" headers are a DAILY counter, not per-minute
Groq's own docs state the `*-requests` headers "always refer to Requests Per Day (RPD)" while the `*-tokens` headers "always refer to Tokens Per Minute (TPM)" — two headers that look like siblings (same `x-ratelimit-*` family, same suffix shape) actually report on two completely different time windows (a day vs a minute) with no window unit in the header name itself. An integration that assumes OpenAI-style "everything here is per-minute" (OpenAI's own `x-ratelimit-limit-requests` IS per-minute, per the OpenAI record in this lane) will silently misread Groq's daily counter as a minute counter.

## Tiers
**Free Plan** (baseline — example: text models 30 RPM / 8K TPM; Whisper-family audio models 20 RPM / 7.2K ASH, a third unit — audio-seconds-per-hour, not tokens) vs **Developer Plan** (documented as materially higher, plus access to Batch and Flex processing modes not available on Free). Limits beyond Developer are negotiated ("select workloads and enterprise use cases").

## Deprecation notice process
A dedicated page is the documented source of truth, backed by direct email to affected accounts plus "documentation updates" on that page; the model stays "fully functional" through the notice window. Observed notice windows on the live page at fetch time ranged roughly one month (`groq/compound`, `groq/compound-mini`, one observed citation) to ~3 months for older retirements — Groq does not commit to one fixed minimum-notice number the way Anthropic (60 days) or Google (45 days) do; notice length is stated as case-by-case.

How observed: 2026-11-03T11:52Z, documentation fetch of both Groq pages above (live header values need a real key; not observed).

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
