# Heroku Dashboard: regenerate the account API key

## Steps
1. Click the circular user image in the upper right of the dashboard.
2. Select Account Settings.
3. Scroll to the API Key section.
4. Click Reveal to view the current key, or Regenerate API Key to issue a new one.

## End state
A new account API key is issued; the previous key stops authenticating. Cycling the key is also the documented response if the account appears to be rate-limited for an unknown reason.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
