# Heroku Dashboard: scale dynos

## Steps
1. Select the app and go to the Resources tab.
2. Click the edit (pencil) icon beside the process type to scale (e.g. web).
3. Move the slider or type the desired dyno count.
4. Click Confirm.

## End state
The dyno formation updates immediately (scales horizontally); dyno size (vertical scaling) is changed from the same edit control. Only one dyno per process type is allowed on the Eco or Basic dyno tiers — upgrading to a larger dyno type is required before running more than one.
