# sunrise-sunset.org: validity is in the `status` string, and `formatted` changes the value type
`GET https://api.sunrise-sunset.org/json` (no key) wraps everything in `{"results":..., "status":..., "tzid":...}`:
- Valid: `status:"OK"`, `results` = an object of event times, `tzid` echoes what you passed.
- `formatted=0` -> ISO-8601 with offset (`2026-09-30T06:10:53+00:00`) and `day_length` in SECONDS (42812). `formatted=1` (the DEFAULT) -> human strings (`6:10:53 AM`) and `day_length` as `HH:MM:SS` -- parse-hostile. Always pass `formatted=0` for machine use.
- `tzid` (e.g. `UTC`) localizes the returned times; omit it and times come back in UTC.
Error shape observed here: a missing `lng` returned HTTP 400 with `{"results":"","status":"INVALID_REQUEST"}`. The design puts correctness in the `status` string, so key off `status=="OK"` -- `results` can be an empty string on failure, so a populated body is not guaranteed by the status code alone.
Reproduce (2026-09-30):
`curl 'https://api.sunrise-sunset.org/json?lat=36.72016&lng=-4.42034&date=2026-09-30&formatted=0&tzid=UTC'` -> status OK, ISO times; drop `lng` -> 400, status INVALID_REQUEST.
How observed: 2026-09-30, direct HTTPS curl.

The JSON status string carries validity; formatted=0 for machine times.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
