# Turn off an alert rule — Sentry

1. Go to **Alerts**.
2. Click on the alert rule to open it.
3. Use the control to turn the alert **off** (the same place used to view its details or edit it also lets you turn it on or off).

End state: the rule stops firing notifications without being deleted, and can be turned back on the same way later.
