# Revoke an API key — Datadog

1. Go to **Organization Settings**, then click the **API Keys** tab.
2. Locate the key to revoke.
3. Click the **Revoke** icon next to the key.

End state: the key stops authenticating immediately but stays listed with a **Revoked** status for 7 days, during which it can be restored (filter the Status column to **Revoked** and click the **Unrevoke** icon); after 7 days it's gone for good.
