# Mute a monitor — Datadog

1. Go to the **Monitor List** page (Monitors → Manage Monitors).
2. Select one or more monitors with the checkboxes (or, for a single monitor, hover over it to reveal the row actions).
3. Click **Mute** (above the search results for a bulk mute, or on the hovered row for one monitor).
4. Choose a predefined duration (such as one hour, one day, or forever) or specify a custom timeframe, optionally scoped to the monitor's group tags.

End state: the monitor (or the matching scope) stops notifying for the chosen window; muting or unmuting from the UI deletes any scheduled downtimes already associated with that monitor.

Source: vendor documentation as of 2026-11-03 (doc date not shown); not observed in a live UI.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
