# Cancel an order — Shopify admin

1. From the Shopify admin, go to **Orders** and open the order to cancel.
2. Click **More actions** → **Cancel order**.
3. In **Refund payment**, choose **Original payment method**, **Store credit**, or **Later**.
4. Select a reason from **Reason for cancellation** (optional staff note).
5. Optionally clear **Restock inventory** or **Send a notification to the customer**.
6. Click **Cancel order** to finalize.

End state: the order is cancelled; a partially fulfilled order can't be cancelled until the fulfillment itself is cancelled first (or it's handled via refunds/returns instead).
