# Issue a refund — Shopify admin

1. From the Shopify admin, go to **Orders** and open the order to refund.
2. Click **Refund**.
3. Enter the quantity of each item to refund (toggle **Restock items** as needed).
4. Review the shipping refund amount, if any, and add an internal refund reason if wanted.
5. In the Summary section, choose the **Refund method**, then confirm the **Refund amount**.
6. Confirm or clear **Send a notification to the customer**.
7. Click **Refund** to process it.

End state: the refund is issued to the chosen method and can't be cancelled or reversed once initiated.
