# Freeze a user account — Salesforce Setup

1. From Setup, enter **Users** in the Quick Find box, then select **Users**.
2. Click the username of the account to freeze.
3. Click **Freeze** (requires the "Freeze Users" or "Manage Users" permission).

End state: the user can't log in, but their license stays assigned (freezing a user doesn't free their license for reuse the way deactivating does); click **Unfreeze** on the same page to reverse it.
