# Block sign-in for a user — Microsoft Entra admin center

1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center (entra.microsoft.com) with the **User Administrator** role (or **Privileged Authentication Administrator** for admin accounts).
2. Browse to **Entra ID → Users → All users**, and select the user.
3. Under **Account status**, select **Edit**.
4. In **Properties**, clear **Account enabled**, then select **Save**.

End state: the user can no longer sign in to any application tied to Microsoft Entra ID; the account, licenses, mailbox, and group memberships stay intact and it is fully reversible.
