# Reset a user's 2-Step Verification backup codes — Google Workspace Admin console

1. In the Admin console, go to **Menu → Directory → Users** and open the user's account page.
2. Click the **Security** tab.
3. Click **2-Step Verification**.
4. Click **Get backup verification codes**.
5. Click **Generate new codes** (this invalidates the old set).
6. Share the new codes with the user, then click **Done**.

End state: the user's previous backup codes stop working; a fresh set is issued.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
