# DigitalOcean control panel: power off / power cycle a Droplet

## Steps
1. Click the Droplet's name to open its detail page.
2. Click Actions.
3. Select Turn off (hard power-off, similar to cutting power) or Power Cycle (power off, then on).
4. To power back on afterward, click Turn On Droplet on the detail page.

## End state
The Droplet's power state changes as selected; Turn off can cause filesystem issues since it isn't a graceful shutdown (Reboot is the graceful equivalent of running the reboot command from the console).

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
