# Render Dashboard: revoke an API key

## Steps
1. Go to Account Settings in the Render Dashboard.
2. Find the key in the API Keys list.
3. Click the ••• menu for that key.
4. Click Revoke.
5. Confirm on the on-screen prompt.

## End state
The key stops authenticating immediately; replace it in any dependent system before revoking to avoid an outage.
