# Render Dashboard: set manual scaling (instance count)

## Steps
1. Open the service's Compute page.
2. Scroll to the Manual Scaling section.
3. Set the fixed instance count.

## End state
Render immediately provisions or deprovisions instances to match the new count, logged on the service's Events page. If autoscaling is also configured, Render uses autoscaling and ignores the manual setting.
