# Heroku Dashboard: promote a pipeline stage to the next

## Steps
1. Open the pipeline's overview page.
2. Locate the stage to promote from (e.g. staging).
3. Click the Promote button associated with that stage; if the downstream stage has multiple apps, choose which ones receive the promoted build artifact.

## End state
The exact build artifact tested in the source stage is deployed to the downstream stage (e.g. production) without rebuilding, so what runs in production matches what was tested. The button only appears if apps exist in the downstream stage.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
