# Netlify: stop (and resume) builds for a site

## Steps
1. Go to the site's build settings (Site configuration → Build & deploy → Continuous deployment).
2. Select Stop builds.
3. To resume, return to the same setting and select Trigger deploys (activate builds) again.

## End state
Netlify stops building production deploys, Deploy Previews, and branch deploys for the site until builds are reactivated; this is a stronger stop than locking a deploy, which only pauses auto-publishing of already-built deploys.
