# Neon console: configure Scale to Zero (auto-suspend)

## Steps
1. In the Neon Console, select the branch from the project/branch menu at the top of the sidebar.
2. Under Postgres database, select Computes.
3. Click Edit on the compute.
4. Enable or disable the scale to zero setting (disabling requires a paid Launch or Scale plan).
5. On the Scale plan, use the time selector in the Edit compute modal to set a timeout between 1 minute and 7 days.
6. Save your selection.

## End state
The compute suspends after the configured period of inactivity (5 minutes by default); project-wide defaults can also be set under Settings → Postgres → Compute defaults, but those only apply to future computes.
