# Neon console: restore a branch to a point in time

## Steps
1. Open the project's Backup & restore page for the root branch.
2. Click the date & time selector and choose the restore point, then click Restore.
3. In the confirmation modal, note that the current branch will be saved as a backup.
4. Optionally click Preview data to browse tables, run read-only queries, or compare schemas before committing.
5. Click Restore to finalize (or Cancel to abort).

## End state
The branch's state reverts to the selected timestamp; the prior state is preserved automatically as a new branch named <branch_name>_old_<timestamp>. Only root branches support this, and only within the plan's history window.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
