In Atlas, go to Clusters under the Database heading.\n2. Click the button below the cluster name, then click Take Snapshot Now (also available on the cluster's Backup → Snapshots page).\n3. In the On-Demand Snapshot modal, enter the Retention (days to keep the snapshot) and a Description.\n4. Click Take Snapshot.\n\n## End state\nA new on-demand snapshot begins; it is listed under Backup → cluster → Snapshots once complete.
