# MongoDB Atlas: pause a cluster

## Steps
1. In Atlas, go to Clusters under the Database heading.
2. For the cluster to pause, click the ⋮ (three-dot menu).
3. Click Pause Cluster.
4. Click Pause Cluster again to confirm.

## End state
The cluster enters a paused state (only possible if healthy and disk usage is below 95%; M10+ for up to 30 days; M0 and Flex clusters cannot be manually paused). Atlas deletes Search Node data on pause and rebuilds it on resume.
