# Okta Admin Console: rotate a client secret

## Steps
1. In the Admin Console, go to the OIDC app integration.
2. Click the General tab.
3. In the Client Secrets section, click Generate new secret. A new secret appears in the Client Secret list; both secrets are active by default.
4. Click the clipboard icon to copy the newly generated secret.
5. Update the application's servers with the new credential.
6. Return to the Admin Console and set the status of the old secret to Inactive.
7. Optionally delete the inactive secret.

## End state
Two active secrets exist during rollout; once dependent apps use the new one, the old secret is set Inactive (or deleted), completing the rotation with no downtime.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
