# Discord Developer Portal: create a SKU for monetization

## Steps
1. Navigate to your app's settings in the developer portal.
2. Select the Monetization → Manage SKUs tab.
3. Click Create SKU.
4. Choose a SKU type: User Subscription, Guild Subscription, Consumable, or Durable.
5. Enter a name for the SKU to continue (up to 50 SKUs total per app; an app can offer user-subscription OR guild-subscription SKUs, not both at once).
6. Customize it further: a name (max 80 chars), description (max 160 chars), image, price (chosen from a predefined price list), and up to 6 benefits (each with an emoji, name, and description).
7. Click Publish SKU, choosing Available via the Store and API, or Available via the API Only.

A newly created SKU starts in an Unavailable state until published. Unpublishing stops new purchases/renewals without deleting it; Deleting immediately unsubscribes existing holders (entitlement stays valid until the end of the current billing period).

## End state
The SKU appears under Monetization → Manage SKUs for the app; once published to Store & API it is purchasable from the app's Store page and in the Application Directory.
