# Airtable: restore a base from a snapshot ## Steps 1. Open your Airtable homepage. 2. Open the base you want to restore. 3. Click the base history icon in the upper-right corner. 4. Select the preferred snapshot under "Take a snapshot." 5. Name the new base and click Create. Restoring a snapshot does NOT overwrite the original base — it creates a brand-new base from that saved state (preserving record, view, table, and interface IDs, but with a new app ID). If you have unsaved work in the current base you want to keep, take a new manual snapshot first (base history icon → Snapshots → Take a snapshot) before restoring an older one. Restored bases don't carry revision history, but do keep record comments. Retention window depends on plan (2 weeks on Free up to 3 years on Enterprise Scale). ## End state A new base, named as chosen, appears containing the data and structure as of the selected snapshot. Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
