# Airtable: duplicate a base

## Steps
1. Open your Airtable home screen.
2. Search for and open the base you want to duplicate.
3. Click the ˅ icon next to the base's name.
4. Select the ... icon, then click Duplicate base.
5. In the window that opens, choose the record and comment settings to carry over.
6. Click Duplicate base.

All base collaborators can duplicate a base; consider interface-only or portal permissions for users you don't want to be able to duplicate a base.

## End state
A copy of the base (tables, structure, and the selected records/comments) is created in the workspace, independent of the original.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
