# Asana: set up a rule

## Steps
1. Open the project and click Customize (top right).
2. In the Customize menu, click Rules.
3. Pick one of Asana's suggested preset rules, or build a custom rule using the rule builder (choose a trigger and one or more actions).
4. Save the rule to add it to the project.

Rules can be made more sophisticated by combining them with custom fields, sections, and integrations.

## End state
The rule appears in the project's Rules list under the Customize menu and runs automatically whenever its trigger condition is met.
