# Google Cloud Console: stop and start a Cloud SQL instance (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Go to the Cloud SQL **Instances** page and click the instance name to open its Overview page.
2. Click **Stop**, then confirm in the dialog.
3. To restart, return to the Overview page, click **Start**, and confirm.

## End state
Stopping sets the instance's activation policy to Off (Never) and it stops; starting sets the policy to Always and the instance starts again.
