# Google Cloud Console: restore a Cloud SQL instance from a backup (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Go to the Cloud SQL **Backups** page.
2. Choose the **Standard tier** or **Enhanced tier** view depending on the backup type, and select the instance (or backup vault).
3. Find the backup and click **Restore**.
4. Under "Choose restore destination", select **Restore to a new instance** (enter an Instance ID) or **Overwrite an existing instance** / **Overwrite the source instance** (confirm by entering the destination instance ID).
5. Click **Restore**.

## End state
The backup's data is restored to the chosen destination instance; overwriting an existing/source instance replaces its current data with the backup's state.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
