# Google Cloud Console: stop and start a Compute Engine VM instance (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Go to **Compute Engine** → **VM instances**.
2. Click the three-dot menu next to the instance, then select **Stop**, and confirm.
3. Once the instance shows TERMINATED, click the three-dot menu again and select **Start**, confirming if prompted.

## End state
The instance moves TERMINATED → RUNNING again; any shutdown scripts must finish running before the instance actually stops.
