# Google Cloud Console: rotate a service account key (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Go to the **Service accounts** page, select your project, then click the email address of the service account.
2. Click the **Keys** tab.
3. Click the **Add key** dropdown, then select **Create new key**.
4. Choose **JSON** as the key type, then click **Create** (the key file downloads automatically; it cannot be re-downloaded later).
5. Update your application with the new key, then confirm it works.
6. Back on the **Keys** tab, click **Delete** next to the old key and confirm.

## End state
A new key is active and downloaded once; the old key is permanently deleted and can no longer authenticate. Vendor docs recommend disabling the old key first and waiting before deleting it.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
