# AWS Console: modify (resize) an EBS volume (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Open the Amazon EC2 console → **Volumes**.
2. Select the volume, then choose **Actions** → **Modify volume**.
3. On the "Modify volume" screen, set a new **Volume type**, **Size**, **IOPS**, and/or **Throughput** as needed.
4. Choose **Modify**, then confirm by choosing **Modify** again.

## End state
The volume modification begins without detaching the volume; if size increased, the volume's file system/partition must still be extended inside the OS to use the extra space (Elastic Volumes support must already be initialized for older volumes).
