# AWS Console: modify an RDS DB instance (e.g. change instance class) (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Open the Amazon RDS console → **Databases**, then choose the DB instance.
2. Choose **Modify**.
3. On the "Modify DB instance" page, change the desired settings (for example, DB instance class).
4. Choose **Continue** and review the summary of modifications.
5. Optionally choose **Apply immediately** (may cause downtime); otherwise the change applies in the next maintenance window.
6. On the confirmation page, choose **Modify DB instance**.

## End state
The requested settings are applied either immediately or at the next maintenance window; some modifications (e.g. parameter group changes) require a manual reboot to take effect.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
