# AWS Console: change an Auto Scaling group's desired capacity (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Open the Amazon EC2 console → **Auto Scaling Groups**.
2. Select the checkbox next to the Auto Scaling group; a details pane opens below the list.
3. On the **Details** tab, choose **Group details** → **Edit**.
4. For **Desired capacity**, enter the new value.
5. Choose **Update**.

## End state
Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling launches or terminates instances to reach the new desired capacity; progress is visible on the group's Activity tab (status moves to Successful) and Instance management tab (lifecycle moves to InService).
