# AWS Console: restore a previous version of a versioned S3 object (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Open the Amazon S3 console → the bucket → the object.
2. Choose **Versions** to list all versions of the object.
3. Select the checkbox next to the **Version ID** of the current (latest) version.
4. Choose **Delete**.
5. In the "Delete objects" dialog, type **permanently delete**, then choose **Delete objects**.

## End state
Deleting the current version promotes the next-most-recent version to current; a previous version can be undeleted this way only if it was itself the latest version when removed (the console has no copy-in-place action — that requires the CLI/SDK CopyObject).

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
