# AWS Console: attach an EBS volume to an EC2 instance (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Open the Amazon EC2 console → **Volumes**.
2. Select the (available) volume, then choose **Actions** → **Attach volume**.
3. For **Instance**, enter or select the target instance (must be in the same Availability Zone).
4. For **Device name**, select or enter the device name to use.
5. Choose **Attach volume**.

## End state
The volume shows as attached (in-use) on the instance; the OS still needs to mount it before it is usable from inside the instance.
