# AWS Console: terminate an EC2 instance (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Open the Amazon EC2 console → **Instances**.
2. Select the instance, then choose **Instance state** → **Terminate (delete) instance**.
3. Choose **Terminate (delete)** when prompted to confirm.

## End state
The instance moves to shutting-down then terminated (charges stop once shutting-down); this is permanent — the instance cannot be reconnected to or recovered, and EBS volumes set to delete-on-termination are deleted with it.
