# AWS Console: stop and start an EC2 instance (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Open the Amazon EC2 console → **Instances**.
2. Select the instance, then choose **Instance state** → **Stop instance**, and confirm.
3. Once stopped, select it again and choose **Instance state** → **Start instance**, and confirm.

## End state
The instance transitions stopped → running; stopping/starting (unlike rebooting) starts a new instance billing period with a one-minute minimum charge.
