# AWS Console: restore an RDS DB instance from a snapshot (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Open the Amazon RDS console at console.aws.amazon.com/rds/.
2. In the navigation pane, choose **Snapshots**.
3. Choose the DB snapshot to restore from.
4. For **Actions**, choose **Restore snapshot**.
5. On the "Restore snapshot" page, enter a **DB instance identifier** for the new instance and adjust other settings as needed.
6. Choose **Restore DB instance**.

## End state
A new DB instance is created from the snapshot (you cannot restore onto an existing instance); it is usable once its status reaches available, with data lazy-loading from S3 in the background.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
