# GitHub: rotate (edit) a webhook's secret (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Go to the repository, click the **Settings** tab (or the **⋯** menu → Settings).
2. In the left sidebar, click **Webhooks**.
3. Click **Edit** next to the webhook.
4. Update the **Secret** field with the new value.
5. Click **Update webhook**.

## End state
The webhook now signs deliveries with the new secret; update the receiving endpoint's stored secret to match before or immediately after this step to avoid dropped/rejected deliveries.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
