# GitHub: lock a conversation on an issue or pull request (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Open the issue or pull request.
2. Optionally add a comment explaining why you are locking it.
3. In the right sidebar, click **Lock conversation**.
4. Choose a reason from the "Choose a reason" dropdown.
5. Click **Lock conversation on this issue** (or **…on this pull request**).

## End state
Only users with write access or existing collaborators can add, hide, or delete comments; reactions and votes are disabled for everyone. Reversed from the same sidebar control, now labeled **Unlock conversation**.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
