# GitHub: create and publish a release (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Go to the repository's main page and click **Releases**.
2. Click **Draft a new release**.
3. Click the **Choose a tag** dropdown; pick an existing tag or type a new version and click **Create new tag**.
4. If creating a new tag, pick the **Target** branch.
5. Enter a "Release title" and a description under "Describe this release".
6. Optionally attach binaries, mark **This is a pre-release**, or **Create a discussion for this release**.
7. Click **Publish release**.

## End state
The release is published and appears in the repository's Releases feed.
