# GitHub: dismiss a Dependabot alert (repeat task)

## Steps
1. Go to the repository, click the **Security** tab (or the **⋯** menu if not visible).
2. In the sidebar under "Findings", open the **Dependabot** dropdown and select **Vulnerabilities**.
3. Click an alert to open its details.
4. Click the **Dismiss** dropdown menu.
5. Select a dismissal reason, optionally add a comment.
6. Click **Dismiss alert**.

## End state
The alert moves to the Closed tab and drops out of the open-alerts list; a dismissed, unfixed alert can be reopened later.
