# Google Play Console: manage Play App Signing

## Steps
1. Open the app, then go to Protected with Play → Play Store protection → Manage Play app signing.
2. For a new app: it is automatically enrolled; create an upload key via Android Studio or the Java keytool, then upload the app bundle. Click Change key to modify the default signing configuration before the first rollout if needed.
3. For an existing app migrating in: accept the terms of service, then transfer a copy of the original signing key using the PEPK tool.
4. If an upload key is lost or compromised, use Request upload key reset.
5. To request the annual key upgrade (for newer Android versions), use Upgrade key.

## End state
Google holds and uses the app signing key to sign the final APK/AAB for distribution; admin permission is required to change these settings.
