# App Store Connect: generate an API key

## Steps
1. Go to Users and Access → Keys tab.
2. Click Generate a Key (or the + button).
3. Name the key.
4. Select an access level: Admin, Developer, Finance, or Sales.
5. Click Generate.

## End state
The private key (.p8 file) downloads once; it cannot be downloaded again, only revoked and replaced with a new key.
