# DigitalOcean control panel: create a managed database

## Steps
1. Go to the Databases page and select Create Database.
2. Choose an engine (e.g. PostgreSQL) and version.
3. Pick an edition: Standard Edition or Advanced Edition.
4. Choose a configuration: Basic (Shared CPU), General Purpose (Dedicated CPU), or Storage-Optimized (Dedicated CPU).
5. Pick a CPU option: Regular (SSD), Premium AMD (NVMe), Premium Intel (NVMe), or AMDv5 (NVMe).
6. Select a plan size and a storage size; optionally enable Autoscale storage.
7. Optionally add standby nodes under "Maximize uptime for critical workloads" for high availability.
8. Choose a datacenter region.
9. Enter a cluster name, select a project, and click Create Database Cluster.

## End state
Provisioning takes roughly five or more minutes; the cluster then appears on the Databases page with its connection details.
