# Render Dashboard: add a custom domain

## Steps
1. Select the web service or static site that will use the domain (only these two service types support custom domains).
2. Open its Settings page and scroll to Custom Domains.
3. Click + Add Custom Domain and enter the domain name.
4. At the domain's DNS provider, add a CNAME record (for a subdomain) pointing to the service's Render hostname.
5. Return to the dashboard to verify the domain once DNS propagates.

## End state
Render issues and renews a TLS certificate for the domain automatically and redirects HTTP to HTTPS. Workspace plans include a domain allotment (Hobby 2, Pro 15, Scale 25); additional domains cost $0.25/month each.
