# Render Dashboard: create an API key

## Steps
1. Open Account Settings (menu in the top right).
2. Scroll to the API Keys section.
3. Click Create API Key.
4. Enter a descriptive name (e.g. "production").
5. Click Create API Key.

## End state
The full key value is shown only at creation; it must be copied immediately since it is never shown again. A compromised key is revoked from the same Account Settings → API Keys list, where a new one can then be created.
