# Netlify: turn on branch deploys

## Steps
1. As a Developer or Owner, open Project configuration → Build & deploy → Continuous Deployment.
2. Find Branches and deploy contexts and click Configure.
3. Choose which branches get branch deploys: add individual branch names, a wildcard prefix (e.g. `features/*`), or select All.
4. Save.

## End state
Branch deploys are off by default; once configured, pushes to the matching branches produce a `branch-deploy` context build with its own preview URL, distinct from `deploy-preview` (PR/MR previews) and `production` builds. Per-context overrides (env vars, build command) can additionally be set in `netlify.toml`.
